Bank-owned (REO)
A home the lender took back after a foreclosure sale, now listed for sale by the lender.
Typically
- Listed through a real estate agent, often on the local MLS
- Sold as-is: the seller usually won’t make repairs
- Offers need a lender’s pre-approval letter or proof of funds
Watch for: deferred maintenance and systems that were shut off while the home sat empty. Budget for an inspection.
