About US Home Assistance

About us

Houses along a quiet street under autumn trees
Rural farmhouse with a wide green lawn and trees
A farmhouse outside town or a house on a city street: the same questions come up. Who is selling, on what terms, and what should you check before you sign?

What we do

Three things, done carefully. We don’t sell homes, make loans or give legal advice.

We explain.
Foreclosures, rent-to-own deals and private sales each come with their own vocabulary, deadlines and risks. Our guides lay out how each one works, step by step, including the parts that can go wrong.
We point you to the source.
HUD, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac publish their own for-sale homes, and so do other federal sellers such as the U.S. Treasury, the U.S. Marshals Service and GSA. We link straight to those official sites so you can see listings and rules first-hand.
We send listing alerts.
Tell us your area and the kinds of listings you want, and we’ll send listings that fit by email, and by text if you opt in. Every alert points back to the seller, the listing agent or the official source.

Who it’s for

US Home Assistance is for anyone who wants to look beyond a standard listing. Some people come to us comparing options for the first time; others already know which kind of sale they want and need the details.

  • Renters weighing a path to ownership
  • First-time buyers comparing their options
  • People who plan to live in the home and want to use the head start HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac give owner-occupants
  • Buyers open to dealing directly with an owner

Our guides and listing alerts are open to everyone, wherever you are in the United States.

How we keep it honest

  1. No made-up listings.

We don’t publish invented homes, prices or inventory counts. Real listings come in alerts and on the official sources we link to.

  2. We link to the source.

Facts about government programs come from the agencies themselves, and we name them so you can check.

  3. We cover the downsides too.

Every option on this site has real risks, and we say so plainly.

  4. No pressure.

No countdown timers, no rush messages, no promises about approval or price.

  5. No reviews we can’t stand behind.

We don’t publish testimonials, star ratings or statistics we can’t trace to a public source.

  6. We keep guides current.

Program rules change. These guides were last reviewed in October 2026.

What we are, and what we’re not

What we do

  • Explain how foreclosures, rent-to-own homes and private listings work
  • Link to official listing sources run by government agencies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
  • Send listing alerts to people who sign up: by email, and by text only with consent
  • Point every alert back to the seller, listing agent or official source

What we are not

  • A real estate broker or agent
  • A mortgage lender or loan broker
  • A law firm
  • A government agency, or affiliated with HUD, FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

Who we are, and who we are not

US Home Assistance is an independent, privately operated listings and information resource. We publish plain-English guides about foreclosures, rent-to-own homes and private (by-owner and off-market) listings, point people to official listing sources, and send listing alerts by email, and by text message to people who opt in.

We are not a real estate broker or agent, and we do not represent buyers, sellers, landlords or tenants. We are not a mortgage lender or loan broker, and we do not make credit decisions, pre-approve anyone or arrange financing. We are not a law firm. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Agency and program names appear on this site only to identify the official sources we link to.

We do not own, sell, rent or finance any of the properties mentioned in our guides or alerts. Listing details, including price, condition, availability, occupancy and terms, are set by sellers, landlords, agencies, auction companies and other third parties. They can change or be withdrawn at any time, and they may contain errors. Always confirm every detail with the seller, the listing agent or the official source before you make a decision or send any money.

Rent-to-own, lease-option, lease-purchase, contract-for-deed and owner-financing agreements vary widely. Read any contract carefully before you sign, and consider having it reviewed by a real estate attorney licensed in your state or by a HUD-approved housing counselor. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, investment or financial advice.

Equal Housing Opportunity

US Home Assistance supports the federal Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin. We send the same kinds of listings and guides to everyone who asks for them, and we don’t target or exclude anyone.

If you believe you’ve experienced housing discrimination, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.
